21ST CENTURY DONOR CIRCLE & THE CHAIRMAN'S CIRCLE

Members of the ACDC “21st Century Donor Circle” are Democrats who donate $210 per year to the Adams County Democratic Committee to provide a predictable source of revenue, and it is working! ACDC is deeply grateful for this support.

The group was started in 2006 to allow the local Democratic Party to focus on strengthening the committee, supporting candidates and turning out the vote. The consistent support from 21st Century members has made this donor circle the backbone of our party’s fundraising efforts.

All contributions to ACDC above the cost of events (such as the annual ACDC BarBQ or dinner) count toward your dues to the 21st Century Donor Circle. You can join with either a one-time gift of $210, or contribute monthly as you choose.  You will be counted as a member as soon as you pledge to join and make an initial contribution.

We now have over fifty members.  One of our challenges had been to gain visibility for the local Democrats, which we were able to do when we rented a space in downtown Gettysburg during the 2012 election season.  We asked ourselves, could we raise enough money to maintain this space as a headquarters on Chambersburg Street?  Well we could, and we did.

One tool we used was to add a new category of gifts: the Chairman’s Circle for members who contribute $500 per year. The Chairman’s Circle members also receive one free ticket to both the Spring and Fall fundraising events. Six members stepped up in that first year.  Our ultimate goal is to have 100 paying members of the 21st Century Donor Circle with ten on the Chairman’s Circle so that we can continue the party’s political efforts.

At least twice each year we get together socially, usually at the home of one of our members.  Hosts for our events have included Kerr and Susan Thompson, Charlie and Lynn Skopic, Kristin Rice, and Roger Lund.  In addition to delicious food and fun, we always make time for some serious conversation and dialogue with the Democratic Leadership. ADAM'S COUNTRY FEDERATION OF DEMOCRATIC WOMEN

In 2009, a group of Adams County Democratic women formed the Adams County Federation of Democratic Women (ACFDW) and were granted a charter by the PA Federation of Democratic Women.

The goals of the ACFDW are to honor women by encouraging them to seek appointive or elective office, and to help women in developing the skills to achieve leadership roles in both the political and public sector; to love our community and spread good will by doing community outreach; and to promote the principles of the Democratic Party.

Membership is open to women who are registered Democrats. The annual dues are $20. Democratic men may join as associate members. A portion of our dues is forwarded to both the PA Federation, and the National federation. Dues must by paid by March 1 each year for you to be included in our submission to these two organizations. However, membership is encouraged at all times of the year.

Nominations for office will be made by a nominating committee at the end of the year.
Elections will be held at our first meeting of the new year. Offices will be 2 year terms.
Offices to be filled are: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary and Membership Secretary. You must be a member of ACFDW to run for office of to vote.
